THE TURNING POINT THAT LED ME TO BECOME A SHAMAN

I was a divorced mother of three—two teenage boys and a three‑year‑old daughter. Their father had left the country and never paid child support, so I became the sole provider. I worked as a drama teacher in a school and as a director in three community centers. Every year I created productions inspired by the children’s stories, their struggles, and my own. The common thread was always the same: young people discovering their inner strength and taking initiative to change their world.

My days began at 7 a.m. and ended at 7 p.m., and when I came home, a second shift began—feeding the children, helping with homework, managing the house, holding everything together. After three years of this nonstop rhythm, I reached complete exhaustion. I would wake up in the morning and see myself at night, still sleeping. I couldn’t stop; who would take care of my children? They were the engine that kept me going.

One day, I simply lifted my eyes to whoever was listening and said, “I need help.” It was the first time I had ever asked the universe for assistance.

The next day, my sister came to visit. She looked at me and said, “We’re going to Sarah.” I had never agreed to any kind of therapy before—I always said, “I’ll manage.” But this time, I didn’t argue. I was too depleted.

Sarah didn’t say a word. She treated me with reflexology and handed me a book. It was the first spiritual book I had ever read—Jane Roberts’ channeled teachings of Seth. I had ten sessions with her. Each week she gave me a new book. Every time I arrived excited to share my insights, she simply smiled and handed me another one.

In our final session, I arrived with an overwhelming urge to lie on the ground. “I need earth,” I told her.

“Why?” she asked.

“I need roots.”

“And why do you need roots?”

“So I can rise. So I can fly.”

Then she asked, “What is your role?”

And without thinking, I answered, “I am a Speaker.”

I was stunned by my own words.

Sarah smiled, opened a bottle of wine, and said:

“Michal, you have completed a remarkable initiation. You are ready for your journey.”

“What journey?” I asked.

She replied:

“When you first came to me, you arrived with a huge spiritual entourage. I knew you had an important purpose. I didn’t know what it was—I simply followed your guidance and gave you the books you needed. Until you reached the truth yourself: you are a Speaker. Congratulations, dear one.”

That was the moment my path truly began.

Dear Spirituality & Health Team,

I would like to share a personal story that bridges emotional exhaustion, physical collapse, and spiritual awakening. As a single mother working multiple jobs, I reached a point of burnout that led me to seek help for the first time—and what unfolded was a transformative journey of healing, grounding, and purpose.

I believe this narrative aligns with your focus on the intersection of spirituality, emotional health, and personal growth.

I received guidance at the darkest moment of my life, and from that moment on I was blessed to be of service. I carry this blessing with gratitude every single day.

Warmly,

Michal Joy Michaelo
